The role of the Compensation Department of Cox Enterprises, Inc. is to oversee compensation across the enterprise to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness.  The corporate team is responsible for executive compensation across the enterprise, including officer pay, long-term incentives, and corporate level annual incentive plans.  It also designs and administers all corporate perquisite programs as well as broad-based compensation at the parent company.

This position is a key member of our executive compensation consulting team.  It reports to the Director, Compensation and will be a key liaison for multiple divisions.


This role will initially be responsible for managing executive compensation for one or more of Cox’s divisions (in partnership with the compensation teams that sit in the divisions). This individual will have accountability for the following:

Design & Administration

  • •·         Partner with the divisions on all officer transactions; e.g., new hires, transfers, promotions, separations
  • •·         Analyze data to develop recommendations for business leaders on compensation plans and market trends
  • •·         Serve as the primary contact point for the division compensation and HR partners on all executive compensation matters
  • •·         Partner with the divisions on annual and long-term incentive designs specific to that division
  • •·         Lead market pricing efforts annually for division officers
  • •·         Lead long-term incentive plan (LTIP) award allocation each spring for specific divisions
  • •·         Interact with payroll, finance, accounting, and legal departments as needed
  • •·         Coordinate with the CEI Compensation equity administration team as needed


  • Ideal candidate has at 5-7 years compensation experience, including consulting and internal roles
  • Executive compensation background preferred; incentive design in particular
  • Clear executive presence
  • Customer service orientation
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, and establish relationships
  • Good financial acumen; analytical and creative problem solving skills; strong attention to detail
  • Trustworthy; maintains confidentiality
  • Proven communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities under tight deadlines
  • CEP and/or CCP designation a plus
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Oracle Fusion, and/or Kenexa’s CompAnalyst a plus
