JOB DESCRIPTION: Serves as the front-line consultant to Emory business units, providing project management and technical guidance / support for compensation practices, including, but not limited to base pay, incentives, and job design. Benchmarks compensation practices to peer institutions. May develop materials for and lead compensation related training classes. Responds to internal client inquiries, including, but not limited to: ad-hoc market pricing requests, analysis of compensation issues, classification requests, special analyses, etc. Collaborates with business unit leadership and HR management to assess and understand unique business needs; formulates appropriate alternatives and solutions that meet Emory policy and unit need. Advises clients on the appropriate use of Emory's classification system, such as suggesting appropriate classifications based on job content, scope, etc. Assists in developing and implementing compensation strategies at the business unit level. Designs and delivers requisite information pertaining to salary administration including internal equity analysis, market analyses, etc. May price jobs in the external labor market, based on job content. Independently manages small projects. Designs and implements a communication strategy designed to maximize compensation knowledge of business unit needs. Monitors macro and microeconomic trends related to human resource management, the labor market, and pay practice trends. Actively participates in developing and achieving departmental short and long term objectives. Maintains professional development by participating in educational programs and professional organizations and by networking with other compensation and human resources professionals. Performs related responsibilities as required.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources Management or a related field and five years of professional HR experience, which includes three years of compensation administration or HR consulting experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Strong interdisciplinary knowledge of human resources management including recruitment, retention, employee relations, etc. Strong verbal and written communication skills, to include the ability to deliver engaging presentations. Must be able to work independently with key stakeholders and prioritize work appropriately. Ability to influence and build credibility by effectively engaging clients. High analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail. Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, including the ability to collect and analyze information, identify key themes or issues, to draw conclusions to successfully resolve problems. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
