Compensation/Total Rewards Consultant

Summary

As part of our National Practice team, this key “hands-on” contributor will design compensation and total rewards programs for clients of Willis North America in their efforts to attract, retain, motivate, and manage their talent.  Projects can include base pay program design, ongoing market pricing/benchmarking, job family/career level frameworks, total reward strategy, and performance management/pay-for-performance strategies. Building strong relationships and promoting our services to maximize our engagement with existing clients and bringing in new clients to Willis are critical components of this position. 

Responsibilities

  • Works interactively with clients to identify benchmark jobs and uses MarketPayTM technology to conduct market pricing using a library of survey sources based on industry, geography, and other applicable factors.
  • Assesses competitiveness of pay and related programs relative to market practices.
  • Designs or updates market-aligned pay structures.
  • Designs incentive plans.
  • Models financial impact of compensation plans.
  • Prepares project plans, timelines, and budgets and leads execution.
  • Finalizes and presents quality deliverables to the client.
  • Develops job family/career level guides to support clients’ job architecture.
  • Prepares and conducts compensation and other seminars and workshops for internal and external presentation.
  • Demos various products and solutions to clients via webcast and one-on-one meetings.
  • Participates in broader projects including total rewards gap assessments/strategy, performance management, competency development, succession planning, and pooled paid time off programs.
  • Maintains first-hand knowledge about all of our products and services.
  • Builds relationships internally and collaborates effectively.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Business Administration, HR, Finance with 5-10 years of compensation experience in a consulting environment (corporate experience is a plus), particularly with middle-market clients. CCP and other compensation certification required or in progress. Global compensation experience helpful.
  • Significant knowledge and understanding of compensation and reward programs and processes. Strong knowledge of compensation surveys, competitive market analysis, custom survey design and statistical analysis, incentive plan design and analysis, pay structure analysis and design, performance management, and other areas of total rewards.
  • Strong analytical skills (both qualitative and quantitative). Expert proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and web-based compensation management technology solutions (e.g., MarketPayTM). Develops new tools and templates that can be leveraged using Excel and other software.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively to promote our products and services internally as well as to clients. (NoteundefinedThis role is a “roll-up-your-sleeves” individual contributor that not only promotes our products/services but also performs day-to-day project work. Successful candidates will enjoy the “hands-on” work and the ability to design/develop new products/services).
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to give effective and engaging presentations to small and large client/prospect audiences.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong attention to detail and results.
  • Willingness to travel 20%.
