Compensation Manager - Mueller Water Products; Atlanta, GA

Summary:  The Compensation Manager will develop, implement and monitor compensation strategies and programs for the organization, including job descriptions/evaluation, merit/base pay program and incentive plans, sales compensation, area differentials, and supplemental pay programs. The role will ensure competitive positioning according to the relevant talent markets and effective execution to attract, motivate and retain a workforce that embraces our high-performing culture. The position assists with the design and administration of executive programs including equity awards, perquisites and deferred compensation.  

 

Primary Accountabilities: Primary accountabilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  •  Designs and implements merit/base pay program for company workforce, including management of annual salary and compensation planning process.            
  • Implements and maintains job classification structure including job grade determination, job descriptions and consulting with human resource management regarding promotions, hires and performance issues.                    
  • Coordinate with business operational and human resources leadership regarding compensation for hourly workforce.                       
  • Development and management of short-term and long-term incentive plans, with some emphasis on sales incentive plans.             
  • Conduct analysis to measure the effectiveness of compensation programs.            
  • Analyze industry specific and general market surveys to ensure competitive market position of salaries and compensation programs.               
  • Applies knowledge of compensation policies and procedures and ensures compliance with applicable laws.        
  • Supports corporate HR HRIS initiative including maintenance of DataMart system and report writing in ADP        
  • Assist on developing communication material for the compensation programs.
  • Manages the equity awards program          
  • Works with finance, tax, legal and outside consultants to manage company’s equity program
  • Performs all other activities, duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • 5-7 years compensation experience with a large organization or consulting firm; public company experience preferred
  • Strong proficiency in analytical and creative problem solving and modeling skills
  • Strong proficiency skill with online salary management tools
  • Total rewards program design skills including: competitive rewards practices and delivery methods
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong business acumen 
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service and teamwork skills in dealing with senior management and outside consultants
  • Expert project management skills and demonstrated ability to execute flawlessly against program goals and time constraints
  • Executive compensation experience a plus
  • Strong knowledge of legislation that may affect compensation policies
  • The ability to collaborate and influence others effectively within HR and at the executive level and cross-functionally
  • Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail and time management skills necessary
  • Must possess strong software skills including HR information systems, specific expertise in Microsoft Excel
  • CCP or other HR or compensation related certifications preferred
