Compensation Manager - Birmingham, AL

The Compensation Manager administers compensation programs that support the goals and compensation philosophy of the Company. The Analyst assists with day-to-day salary administration activities, evaluates and analyzes salary data, determine pay grades, and conducts or participates in compensation surveys, conducts job evaluations and other compensation related projects. The Analyst also develops compensation models, reports and analysis to analyze activity and to support recommendations to the leadership team.

Responsibilities

  • Compile, analyze and report on pay structures for compliance and improvement.

  • Ensures commission software system meets compensation needs and is updated to reflect changes to salary structures, bonus programs, etc.

  • Utilizes commission software system to administer commission plans and bonus programs.

  • Works with Payroll and IT staff to ensure commissions, wages and bonuses are accurately computed.

  • Assist in planning and implementing new and modified sales compensation and bonus plans.

  • Assist in preparation of merit increase and incentive programs and budgeting.

  • Design and prepare ad hoc compensation and budget related reports for management.

  • Participate in salary surveys, and analyze data from survey sources to determine competitiveness both internally and externally.

  • Price new jobs utilizing salary surveys or slotting.

  • Evaluate jobs, determine salary ranges, and educate management on appropriate job classification, title, and grade. Maintain job description database.

  • Develops and documents procedures to streamline processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Assists HR managers, other managers and payroll with compensation-related issues.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience with incentive compensation, design and administration of compensation programs.

  • Knowledge of HR principles and practices related to compensation, including compliance requirements.

  • Effective organizational and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization, including written and verbal communication skills.

  • Display strong quantitative and analytical abilities.

  • Proficient in analysis, problem solving and presenting findings in a concise format.

  • Knowledge of job analysis and job evaluation principles, methods and procedures

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.

  • Functional, working knowledge of commission software. Proficiency with Callidus strongly preferred.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge (IF statements, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and other functions).

  • Experience with sales performance management systems, a plus.

  • Advanced mathematical skills with the ability to compute moderately complex financial calculations.
